Hijos de José Texidor: José Texidor and Sons.

José Texidor Busquets opened his first shop in calle Regomir, 3 in about 1874. In 1880 it was reported that the title of the shop was 'Fortuny': I have only seen the one reference. It was widely known as 'Casa Texidor' or 'Antigua Casa Texidor' (Old Casa Texidor).

Emilio Texidor Torres started out as an assistant of his father, José Texidor Busquets. When José died in March, 1892, however, Emilio and his brothers began trading under the name "Hijos de José Texidor" (Sons (and daughters) of José Texidor).

The shop moved in June 1904 from calle Regomir, 3 to calle Fontanella, 10, where it continued to trade under the name "Hijos de José Texidor" for many years, even after Emilio died in March 1909.

From September 1909, Emilio's widow, Dolores, opened her own shop under the name "La Viuda de E. Texidor" (The widow of E. Texidor).

José Texidor Busquets: Fortuny

Recently I have discovered the name of the first artist material shop started by José Texidor Busquets in Barcelona.

The shop was opened at calle del Regomir, 3 in September, 1880. The shop is currently the Centre Cívic Pati Llimona.

José called the shop Fortuny.

There was also, later, a company called 'Hijos de José Texidor' which was known for its superb window displays.

Apart from La Viuda de E. Texidor that moved to Ronda de Sant Pere, 16... I have found a couple more Texidor shops - Modesto Texidor in Rambla Catalunya, 89 - and La Viuda de E. Texidor in calle Joan Guell, 220 - this latter and La Viuda in Sant Pere were still serving in 1990.
